(Sambucus simpsonii) Florida elder. This water loving shrub is commonly seed in the wild Florida landscape. Clusters of white flowers form in the spring, followed by blueish-black berries. The flower heads have a natural yeast and can be used to make elder-flower champagne. The berries are excellent in pies, jams, and wine. Does well in soggy soil and near ditches and lakes. Once established it needs no care. Plants are shipped bare root 4-6" tall.
